Devori (/malwilde/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Izclea Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Devori is derived from the Sylvin language, as Devori was founded by Mp̪vē Bë̋ 'Femme Raven' Vú̄shīs Caw̋m Ya̋chv Zlkêthënm Goldsmith, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Devori has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 19°C (66°F). Devori receives an average of 269 cm/y (105 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Devori covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4322 m (14179 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Devori was founded durring the early 16th century in fall of the year 1546, by Mp̪vē Bë̋ 'Femme Raven' Vú̄shīs Caw̋m Ya̋chv Zlkêthënm Goldsmith. The establishment of Devori suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Devori was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Devori is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Devori is buildings are arranged arround a single restrictive carved bedrock mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the town a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The town is the proud owner of a proper castle-style stone wall complete with all of the trimmings. It has towers, a moat, gatehouses, drawbridges, and even merticulationsshortsizeleadershipname.. The perhapse unnessisarily well built defences have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

A look around Devori is like looking into a university’s plaza on the day before an exam. People rush about to-and-fro. Discarded scrolls and quills are dotted around town. In spite of many locals discussing academic topics, there’s little sign of any organized groups for any of that talk. Infact, the town seems disordered in general with everything scattered helter skelter about.

Civic Infrastructure

Devori has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Devori. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Devori's parks.

Devori has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Devori.

Devori has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Devori has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Devori has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Devori has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Devori's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Devori possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Devori's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.

Devori has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Devori's natural decorations nor waterways.

Devori has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Devori has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Devori's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Devori.

The Dinosaur, Ceratosaurus near Devori are known to be quite timid.

Devori's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves orgies to channel Charm energies of tier 2 via throat singing.

Economy

Devori has a substantial mill pond located a short distance from town.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century a local hero by the name of slew a dragon and brought its hoard to Devori, where it was shared with all. A small order of knights was founded in 's honor, and bears his name to this day.
